Rufus & Karin Singleton incorporated as FITNESS PERSONIFIED, Ltd in January 1995. We trained, as independent trainers, in various gyms in the Triangle Area until March 2002. In March 2002 we opened our own Personal Training Studio.

Karin has been a Personal Fitness Trainer since 1955 and holds the following fitness-related nationally accredited certifications:

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
While Karin works with people of all ages and abilities, she has specialized in working with people who have special medical cincerns and/or need post-rehabilitative guidance in their exercise programming. She is also associated with the REX Wellness Center where she teaches water aerobics regularly.
Her personal fitness career starting with horseback riding as a teenager and was followed by a few years of Tae Kwon Do. At the age of 22, she started to play Squash which became a passionate pursuit. This, unfortunately, also led to a shoulder injury and ultimately surgery. The positive outcome was an interest in weight training, initially just for the purpose of shoulder rehabilitation. Over time, this resulted in the interest of becoming a Personal Fitness Trainer.
Prior to her career as a Personal Fitness Trainer, Karin was employed by IBM for 18 years. She was born in Germany and relocated to the US in 1989.

Rufus has been a Personal Fitness Training since 1994 and holds the following fitness-related nationally accredited certifications.
He attended Las Cruces Union High School in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He participated in football, basketball, baseball, & track. Rufus had the honor of been elected captain of the football team and class president. Rufus had numerous athletic scholarship offers from several universities. However, he chose to stay in Lass Cruces and accepted a football scholarship from New Mexico State University.
He served five years in the US Army. He completed a 13-month tour of duty in South Korea. His primary assignment was guarding the De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) which separates North and South Koreas. While in the military, Rufus completed the following speciality training:
Officer Candidate School (OCS)
Rufus received his discharge from the army, with the rank of First Lieutenant, in April 1963. After being discharged, he relocated to Los Angeles, California. Rufus started working for Internal Business Machines in August 1967. He held numerous managerialm positions with IBM, and had the opportuniity to travel abroad extensively. He reired from IBM, after 27 years, in June 1994.
Prior to his retirement, Rufus began to prepare for a career in the fitness industry. Becaue of his background, this had been a life-long passion. Rufus began his personal training career in September 1994.
In June 1997, Rufus accepted the position as Fitness Consultant for the Miss North Carolina Scholarship Pageant. His primary responsibility was to prepare Miss North Carolina for the bathing suit competition in the Miss America Pageant.
